Do You Really Need Travel (rufus kaui) Insurance?

Do You Really Need Travel Insurance?

You have probably heard about travel insurance but may not really know what it is or whether you need it. Perhaps a travel agent recommended that you get travel insurance, or maybe it was offered online at a travel web site. Either way you have a decision to make, and we will try to help you understand whether you really need travel insurance or not.

First of all, travel is not cheap. When you add up airfare, hotel reservations, and any other arrangements that you make for a trip, it can be a pretty hefty sum. So if you had to cancel your trip for any reason, you could stand to lose a lot of money. Travel insurance was created to help protect you in those cases where your trip becomes canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. Some of the situations that would be covered are perhaps your airline unexpectedly going out of business just before your trip, or maybe you get sick and are unable to travel during the dates you had selected. In both of those cases, if you had purchased travel insurance in advance, your money would be refunded and you would not lose anything.

Traveling abroad can have its own set of concerns these days too. Ever since September 11th, terrorism has become a concern around the world. And it’s quite possible that an act of terrorism could break out in an area where you plan to visit. If that should happen, the airline is not required to refund your ticket simply because you choose not to travel due to terrorism. However, if you had purchased travel insurance, you would be covered and would lose nothing.

Another advantage of travel insurance abroad is that it can cover you for medical expenses that may become necessary on your trip. Very often, your medical insurance policy will not provide coverage outside of your home country. If your policy is like that, then travel insurance makes a lot of sense. It means that if any medical emergency arises while you are on your trip, you will be fully covered for the medical expenses incurred. That is a great peace of mind to have when you travel on foreign soil.

Sometimes airlines cancel flights for any number of reasons too, including bad weather conditions or emergency repairs. In such cases the airlines may not reschedule the flight and refunds are not given. Once again, if you have travel insurance you receive your money back no matter what the reason is for the flight not taking off.

Travel insurance can also cover lost luggage. Airlines try to locate and return all missing luggage if possible. But sometimes luggage is never found. Or perhaps it is found, but items have been removed. Travel insurance will help replace all of your lost items and luggage.

Basically, travel insurance protects you from any unforeseen occurrence that could interfere with your trip. It can work very well not only for air travel but also cruises too. If you travel a lot, getting a long-term travel insurance policy may make sense for you also. As with any consumer decision, be sure to do your homework and shop around to get the best deal. Make sure you know what your policy does and does not cover before you pay for it. But by getting the right travel insurance you can make sure that you are protected from unforeseen circumstances whenever you travel.

Hanalei Vacations

If Hawaii is on your mind, either because you’ve never been and feel that you’re missing out on something, or because you have been but need another taste of paradise, then it’s time to figure out the where, what, and why of your next trip. Well, the “why” is easy, you’re overworked and jonesing for a jaunt to one of those too-good-to-be-true kinds of places. The other two questions will take a little more examination. Put yourself on the right track by narrowing things down a bit, perhaps focusing on Kaui; its north shore, to be exact.

Here is where you’ll find Hanalei, a dreamy little spot that sits at the foot of the mountains and encompasses a city, a beach, a bay, and so much more. The name means crescent shape, and as you look out over the valley you’ll see the unique geography and stunning scenes reaching out into the sparkling blue water, inviting you to go exploring. Start at one corner and work your way around, you surely won’t regret a single moment of your Hawaiian adventure.

Starting with the obvious, the beach is where you may end up spending the bulk of your time. White sands frame the ocean and provide a striking contrast to the rolling mountains that rise behind you, and the conditions are perfect for surfing and boogie boarding. Grassy stretches make for good picnic spots, and lifeguards are standing by to ensure a safe time is had by all.

Enjoy Hanalei Beach Park Pavilion, as it’s certainly different than anything you see on a daily basis. Even kicking back for a nap on your towel or finally taking the chance to read a book for pleasure will count as properly enjoying the scenery, as every glance towards the sky you indulge in and every breath you take will contribute to your overall sense of well-being.

Hanalei is the site of several taro fields, or kalo lo’I, in case you were wondering what native delicacy was being grown in patchwork formations all around this region. This Hawaiian staple is used to make poi, among other things, so try some while you’re here and appreciate the fact that it is truly authentic and homegrown.

There are several shops and restaurants in Hanalei, so sample the local fare and pick up a few souvenirs for the guys back home. You’ll also want to drive around a bit and explore the waterfalls that cascade towards the poi fields and ultimately, the sea, as well as the Hanalei Bridge, which looks rickety but will promise to keep you safe.

Note that much of Hanalei is a wildlife refuge, so keep your eyes open for exotic flora and fauna. This is how Hawaii exists in its natural state, and any worries of visiting an overly trodden tourist trap will disappear once you stop to absorb the sweet sound of quiet and the goose bump-inducing sights of rainbows, mists, and lush green hills.

Princeville, another spectacular North Shore gem, is just down the road, and a number of vacation rentals can be found sprinkled throughout this end of Kauai. If you’ve done the hotel thing one too many times, consider booking a special place for this special trip. Having more than just a square room with a mediocre view will bump this trip to a first-class affair, and after having known what its like to have a kitchen, porch, and hot tub all to yourself, it’ll be hard to go back to your old ways.

As long as you don’t mind learning to treat yourself right on vacation, then start exploring all the Hanalei Vacation Rentals you can see online. This destination will certainly deliver the goods, so dive into the planning process without hesitation.

How You Can Have A Great Vacation in Hawaii

Where do you really want to travel to — the Hawaiian tropics of course! Almost everyone dreams of going to Hawaii at some time in their life! Well let me get you started on the adventure of a lifetime for the best vacation you could possibly dream of to the Islands of Aloha - Hawaii!

When I was a kid, my dad told me of the time he fondly spent in Hawaii, just being in the U.S. Army. I was always blessed by his dreamlike statements of the wonderful islands of Hawaii! This gave me a real wanderlust to not only take a vacation to Hawaii one day, but to live there if possible. Wow, was I blessed when the opportunity came my way to not only go to Hawaii, the ultimate vacation destination (as far as I was concerned, and still am in many ways), but to live there and see it as a resident, to take in the sites more than in a quick tourists’ view!

The People of Hawaii

Hawaii is all you could ever ask for in a vacation! It has a variety of different activities and landscapes, not to mention photographable people and places! It is, of course, a growing society of many different peoples - ethnic groups from all over the world, and let me tell you, the term “melting pot” is a very good description for the people and cultures that have come to live in these beautiful islands. I’ve heard it said that Hawaii has the highest inter-racial marriage rate of all the 50 states in the good ole’ USA -about 40-50% of the people are inter-racially married,if my statistics are accurate. This brings greater love and understanding to the people who live and work together and causes a greater continuity of friendships and cooperation amongst the people. This is maybe what makes Hawaii such a nice place to live and visit!

The Landscape of Hawaii

Hawaii is made up of 5 main islands - The Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Maui, Kaui, and Lanai, plus other smaller islands that most people, whether tourist or residents, do not go to. The Landscapes and even the climates can vary from island to island. Having lived on the island of Oahu for almost 4 years, I can say with certainty that even living on the south-to-middle side of the island in the city of Honolulu, is a different landscape and weather experience than living on the North Shore, like the town of Haleiwa, or on the east side of the island, like the city of Kaneohe. From island to island, depending on the elevation of the mountains or how close to the ocean, or how much foliage there is, all plays into the mix when it is related to the weather. Just be sure not to go to Hawaii for a vacation if it is the rainy season, unless you don’t mind the rain. This falls anywhere between September to February of any given year.

Highlights of the Main Islands, Starting with Oahu…

Oahu is the island of the Main Population base for the islands of Hawaii, with Honolulu as its capital city and main metropolis. About 400,000 people live on Oahu. Waikiki is the main tourist hang out and is well known for its beautiful hotels and beach.

Maui

Maui is a wind surfers paradise and is the island where Haliakala, the dormant volcano resides. It is famous for its beautiful sunrises. Maui is more of a country island and has a very warm feeling to it!

Big Island

The Big Island of Hawaii is a huge place where the active volcano Kilauea is and where the dormant volcanos - Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea sit perched above the clouds, with Parker Ranch in between.

Kauai

Kauai island is the island of great beauty! It has many wonderful sites to see, including the mini Grand Canyon. Expect to spend more time on this island if you love nature and the call of the wild - it is very enriching!

To sum up the matter, if you are looking at taking a trip to Hawaii or if you plan on living there, make sure you know what you want before you go there. There is such a variety of things to do and places to see and weather to deal with, that it is well advised for you to do your reseach and have your mind made up before you make plans to get on that slow boat or high flying airplane!

This the manager and editor of the www.aloha-expressions.com internet site, also the author of this article. Having lived in Hawaii for 4 years and being an avid friend to the people of the islands, I can honestly say that I am a mini-expert on Hawaii who can be taken at his word. I recommend you taking a look at my website: www.aloha-expressions.com and parusing your way through the blog, newsfeeds, and resources sections, I think you will find something of interest that you will like and find valuable on your search to your next Hawaiian vacation or relocation!
